I have been having more ups and downs in my life lately, which I find incredibly frustrating. I think that some of it has to do with struggling to get back to the routine that I had prior to summer classes ending at the end of June, especially my daily reflections. So I have decided to institute Thankful Thursday here on my blog to share with all of you a few of the things that I am thankful for each week.
1. I’m very thankful that I have a safe place that I can call home. So many people don’t, or struggle with maintaining a safe place. I know that no matter what else is going on, good or bad, in my life, I never have to worry about that.
2. My mom. Even though sometimes she makes me a little crazy (and let’s face it, what healthy relationship doesn’t have those moments), she is an amazing support system and cheerleader for me. I don’t always deserve it and in truth, sometimes I can be quite a jerk (some moments she probably wonders if I have actually outgrown my moody teenage years. Haha), but I have never questioned whether or not I could count on my mom. I’m extremely lucky to have her, especially knowing that not everyone has a relationship with their mom like that.
3. Happy movies. Whether they are Disney or a romantic comedy, who doesn’t love a good laugh and a happy ending? I will never outgrow my love of unusual animated characters running around trying to get their happily ever after.
4. Slouch days. I am usually fairly well put together, whether I am living in workout clothes (yes, mine are pretty much all cute and coordinated!) or more dressed up. However, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I love days where I can just relax and be totally scrubbed out. Old, usually ragged sweat pants, oversize tees, no shoes, no make up, and messy hair = total carefree day. Give me a book and a comfy place to curl up and I’m set!
What are you thankful for today?
