Category Archives: Foodie Pen Pals
This past month I joined the Foodie Pen Pal program hosted by Lindsay over at The Lean Green Bean. As a Foodie Pen Pal, each month we are matched up with two other people: one that you receive a package from and one that you send a package to. After finding out about your pen pal’s preferences, dietary restrictions, etc., you create a package to send to them full of delicious treats that you send out by the 15th of the month and costs under $15! I totally love this idea as it’s not too expensive for anyone to participate in and you get to hear from all sorts of cool people. Then, at the end of the month, everyone who has a website or blog posts about the packages that they received!
My pen pals were Allyson and Angela. To see what kinds of yummies I sent Angela, go check out her post at The Squishy Monster.
I received my package from Allyson midway through the month and it was packed with all sorts of goodies!
Justin’s Nut Butter: Chocolate Hazelnut and regular Peanut Butter. One of my favorite treats! Especially the chocolate hazelnut! Can anyone say yum??
Hint Water: Not my favorite. It smelled delicious, which threw me off when I went to drink it because it tasted nothing like I thought it would. Not bad, but not something I’d probably buy.
Zesty Nacho Kale Chips: Strange. Very strange. I love kale chips and snake some every time Dan makes them, but these ones were odd. I am guessing that a lot of it had to do with being Zesty Nacho flavored, which meant they were covered in this weird, hard, cheesy powdery stuff. At first taste, they were pretty decent, but they had this bizarre vaguely spicy aftertaste. I tried a couple, but in the end, gave them away because they just weren’t to my taste.
Rosemary Lentil Crackers: Yum! I’m not really a crackers person, or a cheese person for that matter, but I found that pairing cheese with these rosemary lentil crackers was a pretty delish snack! It’s awesome what you find you enjoy when someone gives you something new to try!
Barney Butter Almond Butter: Just like pretty much any other kind of nut butter, loved it! I usually use it as a snack mid afternoon or when I am on the go. Justin’s Nut Butter is definitely my favorite, but this one definitely is a close runner up!
Chocolate Chip Brownie Lara Bar: I’d never tried this flavor and since it’s chocolate, it was no surprise that I liked it. It was a great treat!
She also included a card with her own recipe for Kale Chips in it! How awesome is that?! Plus, I thought it was a cute card since I love owls.
Thanks again Allyson! Can’t wait for next month!
